Post-DoD Live Plans

Hey everyone. Been non-stop busy leading up to MAGFest preparing for DoD Live, submitting a DoD entry, and other RL stuff. The show was a bit stressful since we practiced together only once ever for about an hour and a half before playing live. Considering all the circumstances, I’m happy with how the show went. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us! This was kind of our beta test run. Next year will be a lot more solid since we’ll have an actual keyboardist and won’t be using backing tracks.

But yeah, now that MAGFest is over, I’ve got a LOT of music projects planned that I’m now free to get working on. 2013 will mark my true return to the VGM cover scene. Keep your eyes peeled!

Also, we’ll have high quality video/audio of the set posted in the next few weeks. Here’s a list of the songs we played:

Go Blow Snow For A Year
Walk on Water
Sonic Gargles with Garden Marbles
Loungin’ in the Giant
Bass Fishing
The Hot Pink of Blues
Zealous Entropy
Light in the Fortress

Dwelling of Duels Live @ MAGFest 10

Hey, sorry for the lack of updates guys… Life has really kept me busy these past few months with school and such, and I know many of you have been eagerly awaiting new material since the launch my new site, but I’ve been enlisted to play at MAGFest 10 with a band called DoD Live, which is housethegrate, Prince of Darkness, ktriton, and myself, doing live renditions of classic Dwelling of Duels arrangements–everything from funk to prog metal. We’re going to be playing Friday, January 4th — 11AM on the 2nd Stage. Here’s a teaser of half of the setlist we’ll be playing. You’ll have to come dance it off with us to find out what other fresh jams we have in store for you!

Chrono TriggerZealous Entropy (original: Ashane)
Sonic 3Walk on Water (original: housethegrate)
Sonic 3Sonic Gargles with Garden Marbles (original: Prince of Darkness, feat. GuitarBizarre)
Contra 4Bass Fishing (original: SnappleMan, Prince of Darkness, BrainCells, norg)

If you’ve never been to MAGFest and live anywhere in the Washington D.C. area (or even if you don’t!), you should definitely come out for what is the biggest and best video game music festival in the country, and our show is guaranteed to be nothing short of epic! Yuzo Koshiro (Ys/Actraiser/Streets of Rage composer) is having his first live performance in the US if that isn’t enough to motivate you to come!

I’ve also got lots of other exciting music projects lined up after MAGFest, so stay posted! Thanks.

Wow, what a solid month full of epic entries. SnappleMan and I took the gold with our Castlevania 2: Belmont’s Revenge arrangement, though it was close between second place, which was an amazing Double Dragon Neon arrangement by Shnabubula. M-H’s Chrono Cross arrangement was damn epic as well.

The entries are all up on the DoD site, including ours which you can go check out, but keep in mind that we’re working on a final mix right now, so watch for that on my site in the next few days!

Oh yeah, Happy Halloween!

Long time no update?

Hey guys, sorry for not having a central location for all of my video game covers for so long… My last site was hosted on my brother’s server which went belly up. I didn’t know how easy setting up a site is nowadays with services like WordPress and dropbox.

So…yeah, I know it’s been a long time since I’ve put any new material out (aside from a Fighting Golf cover from earlier this year), but I’ve got some different plans and I’m currently working on a song, so keep your eyes peeled for updates! :) Thanks,

- Ashane

Guitar performance of a video game music arrangement that was done as a collaboration with SnappleMan and norg, “The Doomsday”, which is of the Doomsday Zone from Sonic & Knuckles on Genesis. I present to you a full guitar tab of my arrangement “Red Cap Assault” of the Battle theme from Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. The leads and rhythm guitar in this are almost 100% true to the original song, but were slightly modified for added heaviness. View full article »
