Finally! By dumb luck, I was able to find a copy of the lyrics from an ancient archived PM from one of my forums. I cleaned it up a bit for accuracy, and after almost 10 years since the song was originally put out, here it is! LuIzA and I had talked about re-transcribing them a while back, as not even she remembered the original lyrics. We never got around to that, but luckily that is now a non-issue. This has been by far the most requested thing, so I’m glad to finally put this to rest. :) LuIzA and I have been in talks recently about possibly redoing this arrangement, so keep an eye out for that!

Lyrics (written by LuIzA):

A pawn tied to strings of time
In ironic confines
Watching as it passes us by
It cries all those tears we deny having
It defies our sense of pride
as it consumes all life.

Burned down to ashes
A deceiving bittersweet tyranny
(From) the sky, an endless fall
Hide one’s fear by ending one’s agony

If I could turn back time
No dream it would fulfill
Hope would still be my only crime
If I could fight back the tides of time
The world’d not be fine
There’d still never be a time of peace

Life is what we feel not what we see
We’re blind with the illusion of sight
Collide with walls of sorrow
Time is just disdain in eternal chains
The pain it is to try
Not to allow it to take our fate

Oh hi there

Hey everyone! Sorry it’s been ages since any updates. I’ve had a lot going on in my personal life but music has again become the main focus of my life. I’ve been practicing guitar pretty seriously lately. I made some upgrades to my studio too so it’s going to be much easier than before to record stuff.

I did a DoD entry that I’m still working on the mix and guitar video for, which I should have up very soon. I have a few other guitar videos I’m planning on doing, as well as a full album of VG covers within the next couple months. I thought I’d just give a heads up that tons of projects are on the horizon, so as Lance says in Super C, keep your eyes peeled! :)

Post-DoD Live Plans

Hey everyone. Been non-stop busy leading up to MAGFest preparing for DoD Live, submitting a DoD entry, and other RL stuff. The show was a bit stressful since we practiced together only once ever for about an hour and a half before playing live. Considering all the circumstances, I’m happy with how the show went. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us! This was kind of our beta test run. Next year will be a lot more solid since we’ll have an actual keyboardist and won’t be using backing tracks.

But yeah, now that MAGFest is over, I’ve got a LOT of music projects planned that I’m now free to get working on. 2013 will mark my true return to the VGM cover scene. Keep your eyes peeled!

Also, we’ll have high quality video/audio of the set posted in the next few weeks. Here’s a list of the songs we played:

Go Blow Snow For A Year
Walk on Water
Sonic Gargles with Garden Marbles
Loungin’ in the Giant
Bass Fishing
The Hot Pink of Blues
Zealous Entropy
Light in the Fortress

Dwelling of Duels Live @ MAGFest 10

Hey, sorry for the lack of updates guys… Life has really kept me busy these past few months with school and such, and I know many of you have been eagerly awaiting new material since the launch my new site, but I’ve been enlisted to play at MAGFest 10 with a band called DoD Live, which is housethegrate, Prince of Darkness, ktriton, and myself, doing live renditions of classic Dwelling of Duels arrangements–everything from funk to prog metal. We’re going to be playing Friday, January 4th — 11AM on the 2nd Stage. Here’s a teaser of half of the setlist we’ll be playing. You’ll have to come dance it off with us to find out what other fresh jams we have in store for you!

Chrono TriggerZealous Entropy (original: Ashane)
Sonic 3Walk on Water (original: housethegrate)
Sonic 3Sonic Gargles with Garden Marbles (original: Prince of Darkness, feat. GuitarBizarre)
Contra 4Bass Fishing (original: SnappleMan, Prince of Darkness, BrainCells, norg)

If you’ve never been to MAGFest and live anywhere in the Washington D.C. area (or even if you don’t!), you should definitely come out for what is the biggest and best video game music festival in the country, and our show is guaranteed to be nothing short of epic! Yuzo Koshiro (Ys/Actraiser/Streets of Rage composer) is having his first live performance in the US if that isn’t enough to motivate you to come!

I’ve also got lots of other exciting music projects lined up after MAGFest, so stay posted! Thanks.

Wow, what a solid month full of epic entries. SnappleMan and I took the gold with our Castlevania 2: Belmont’s Revenge arrangement, though it was close between second place, which was an amazing Double Dragon Neon arrangement by Shnabubula. M-H’s Chrono Cross arrangement was damn epic as well.

The entries are all up on the DoD site, including ours which you can go check out, but keep in mind that we’re working on a final mix right now, so watch for that on my site in the next few days!

Oh yeah, Happy Halloween!

Long time no update?

Hey guys, sorry for not having a central location for all of my video game covers for so long… My last site was hosted on my brother’s server which went belly up. I didn’t know how easy setting up a site is nowadays with services like WordPress and dropbox.

So…yeah, I know it’s been a long time since I’ve put any new material out (aside from a Fighting Golf cover from earlier this year), but I’ve got some different plans and I’m currently working on a song, so keep your eyes peeled for updates! :) Thanks,

– Ashane

Guitar performance of a video game music arrangement that was done as a collaboration with SnappleMan and norg, “The Doomsday”, which is of the Doomsday Zone from Sonic & Knuckles on Genesis.
